Each day, nearly 150 youth attend our after school and summer programs. Our programs maximize the out-of-school learning that is crucial to bridge the learning gap between low-income and high-earning families. To our students, YES is just a fun place to come.
The Harvard Family Research Project (2008) concluded that children and youth who participate in effective after school programs can reap a host of benefits, including improved academic achievement, social and emotional development, healthy lifestyles, and prevention of risky behaviors.
READY is an after-school tutoring program currently serving students grades 2-5 at our two YES locations. Students are coached by trained tutors in a safe environment that caters to the growth of learning and understanding. Students engage in academic and character building activities in a classroom with 1:8 ratio of coaches to students.
Focus is placed on academic growth through regular reading, phonics, and grammar, with character growth in group discussions and journaling about themes and morals of the literature. Trained Tutors are needed.
Our open enrollment for Summer Camp will begin May 1st. Please contact the YES Center closest to you for more information:

What are some of your favorite summertime memories? Family vacations? Camping? Church retreats? For many of the children living in the inner city, those kinds of memories and opportunities are few and far between. Some have never even been outside of Nashville! That is why we do YES Camp. At YES Camp, a child from the inner city gets the chance to:
YOU CAN HELP SEND A CHILD TO YES CAMP THIS SUMMER!
A gift of $25 will sponsor a child for a day (that's just 4 cafe lattes!)
A gift of $150 will sponsor a child for a week (that's less than 5 pizzas!)
You can also choose an amount that works for you! Any donation, no matter how big or small, can make a difference for a child.
YES operates a recreational sports league with area churches and youth programs in order to to train young men and women athletics, improve self esteem, and teach discipline within a Christian environment. This demands a higher degree of sportsmanship than is normally found with other leagues.
According to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), youth should received 60 minutes or more of vigorous, intense exercise each day. We know our programs are needed because the CDC also reports:
Each year, Youth Encouragement Services (YES) hosts our most notorious sports program, the winter Basketball League, from December – March. This season one group among (4) different teams was able to sweep the entire championship and win in every division. The Cougars of the YES Lindsley Center in downtown Nashville took home four championship trophies on last Saturday for the first time in this center’s history.
