Did you know that YES is active on the campus of Vanderbilt University? YES –Vanderbilt serves to promote and further the goals of the Nashville organization, Youth Encouragement Services on Vanderbilt’s campus. Youth Encouragement Services strives “to enrich the lives of children in inner city Nashville by encouraging them to reach their full potential. Through daily programs such as tutoring, summer camp, a basketball league, job skills training, and other recreational and cultural activities, low-income children are given a positive alternative to the streets and opportunities for a bright future.” In order to effectively involve the Vanderbilt student population, YES Vanderbilt will provide dedicated, dependable volunteers on a weekly basis to mentor underprivileged inner city youth at established afterschool centers. Furthermore, YES Vanderbilt exists to build the relationship between the children at YES and the Vanderbilt community by hosting events on campus or at various locations in Nashville throughout the school year.
