Y.E.S. students hear Tim Tebow speak
April 212010
On Saturday, April 17 Tim Tebow and his parents were at Lipscomb University to speak to a full house that evening. But, Saturday afternoon Tebow set aside time to speak to underprivileged children at an unadvertised event. Several youth organizations were present, including 40 Y.E.S. students. The children, knowing this was a unique opportunity, were excited to see the two-time national champion quarterback. They were very curious about Tebow, wanting to know everything from what NFL team was going to draft him, to whether he has a girlfriend or not. He spoke briefly about his personal journey and encouraged the kids to strive to be their personal best and to never give up on a dream. He also mentioned how important positive role models are, and he cited his parents as his two biggest influences. One Y.E.S. middle school student said, “It was very uplifting to hear him talk about how his parents are his two biggest role models and how he looked up to them more than anything in the world.” The students were encouraged, and everyone who went was glad to have the chance to see Tim Tebow in person.
