Not Just a Titans Game
November 122009
At some point in their lives, it’s every young man’s aspiration to become a football superstar. Well, on a November afternoon ten young men were given the opportunity to catch a glimpse of that dream by attending the Tennessee Titans versus Jacksonville Jaguars game. The whole day was a big surprise for the Y.E.S youth - they had no idea what was in store. The day started off with a limousine ride to the game. As the students entered the parking area, they felt like celebrities because people were trying to see who was in the limousine. Anticipation for the game was building up inside of them, you could see it in their smiles. They were lead to a club level suite where they had pizza, chicken, drinks, popcorn and cookies waiting for them to enjoy. Everyone was given a bag with lots of goodies and a Titans jersey. The smiles got bigger and bigger and the surprises kept coming. The view from club level was amazing. The students were given access to the football field in order to get a closer look at the players warming up before the game. It was incredible for the young men to see the players up-close compared to seeing them on a television screen. As the Y.E.S. youth walked through the tunnel where they’ve seen their mentors enter the field, Coach Fisher was coming out of the locker room. A few seconds later, Vince Young and Kerry Collins followed - looking like giants compared to the students. As they walked back across the field to go to their seats, out of nowhere a big hand with a football came over their shoulders. To their amazement, it was Lindale White handing them a football. Once back in the suite, a couple of Tennessee Titans cheerleaders came to meet the guys and take pictures with everyone. After the game the students went back to the limousine feeling like true superstars, knowing that their dreams are not as far off as they had once thought.
