Computer Class Training for Y.E.S. students

March 152010

Computers can be a lot of fun and they can also be very confusing. The more students know about them, the more fun they are.  One goal of Youth Encouragement Services is to prepare our students with the skills they will need to succeed in the future. From the very first class, our students receive more than just computer basics. Students will also focus on financial literacy, helping them understand what money is and how to make money work for them. They will learn the pros and cons of college, a job and how to prepare for both. A basic nutrition course will help our students to learn the six food groups.  They will discuss the importance of 3 meals a day with an emphasis on eating breakfast. Classes on exercise in general and getting enough sleep are also important to living a healthy lifestyle will be taught also. Games and other activities will be included to help our students gain a better understanding in a more practical way.
Classes will be offered for our second grade through high school students. Each lesson will last about 3 weeks and continue through the month of May. Classes will be conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Lindsley Center.
