Each year we choose one child from each of our three centers to recieve a special award.  These three young ladies are leaders among their peers.  They are well-behaved and always have a positive attitude.  They are hard-working and helpful to the YES staff.  We are so proud of how these three young ladies have grown since they have been in the YES program!

Meet our 2008 Children of the Year Award Recipients:

YES McIver Center:  Jirel Rodriguez
“My name is Jirel Rodriguez.  I have been coming to Youth Encouragement Services for 2 years.  My favorite thing about coming to YES is playing with my friends.  Youth Encouragement Services has helped me read the Bible every day.  I really would like to be a teacher when I grow up.”

YES Lindsley Center:  Antonisha Esaw
“My name is Antonisha and I’ve been coming to Youth Encouragement Services for 3 years.  Some of my favorite things to do are - I like to play basketball.  I love to cheer.  In the summer I love the Honor Roll trips.  And I love camp.  Ever since I was in Kindergarten I’ve been an A & B student.  When I grow up, I want to finish school, get my education and be a lawyer.”

YES St. Luke’s Center:  Michelle Turner
“My name is Candace Michelle Turner.  YES has really changed me because before I came here I was doing really bad in school.  I came here and I have changed dramatically.  I graduated A & B Honor Roll and I started getting closer to my Dad.  Me and my Dad talk a lot more than we did when I wasn’t coming to YES.  So it improved me on my grades and how I was school and also improved me on how I was at home.”

We are so proud of our 2008 Children of the Year recipients!
