Mentor Connection
- Purpose: To connect Y.E.S. college scholarship recipients with a Y.E.S. Board member who will be able to connect with the student throughout the semester and potentially, their entire college career. This connection will serve as a system of support and accountability.
- Time Requirement: Approximately 2 hours per month. Bi-weekly or monthly contact, with the ideal set-up for in-town connections leading to monthly face-to-face meetings. At a minimum the mentor is asked to phone, email, or text their college student with encouraging words, support, information and update requests on how the semester is going. We request a two semester minimum commitment.
- Additional time or paperwork requirement: The scholarship committee asks that each Board member would request their student to communicate the first sign of an issue or concern for their semester…whether academic, emotional, spiritual, financial, etc. We would also ask that the information be reported to the scholarship committee on a monthly basis (simple, easy form provided – time estimate to complete = less than 10 minutes).
